That’s a resounding NO! Recreational consumption (smoking or eating) is not permitted in public or inside hotels, restaurants and other public commercial spaces.
What about while driving?
You risk DUI (Driving Under the Influence) charges if driving (or even riding) in a moving vehicle with an open container of marijuana.
Can US citizens who live in another state—even one where marijuana is not legal—use recreational pot?
For visitors outside of California, a valid photo ID (such as a drivers license, passport, or other government-issued ID card) is required for entry into a licensed recreational dispensary. Employees will ensure you are over over the legal age of 21, and put your information on file before allowing entrance into the facility.
Do note, many dispensaries do not accept credit cards, cash only.
Can non-US citizens (even those from countries where weed is legal) travel with marijuana in the U.S.?
No, it is not allowed for residents and visitors to transport marijuana across state lines. Marijuana is still an illegal drug under federal law and post-security areas at airports are ruled by federal agencies. Similar regulations apply for driving over state lines.
Are there recreational marijuana shops in West Hollywood?
Yes, there are a few. Just remember, you can’t enjoy your purchase in the store or in public.
