Best Vegan & Vegetarian Restaurants in West Hollywood

Is there anywhere better than California to be a vegan?

West Hollywood isn’t just a haven for glitz and nightlife — it’s also a paradise for plant-based food lovers. Whether you’re a dedicated vegan, a curious omnivore or simply taking on the Veganuary challenge, this vibrant corner of LA offers some of the best spots for your next meat-free foodie adventure.

The Butcher’s Daughter

When a restaurant calls itself a “vegetable slaughterhouse,” you know you’re in for something extraordinary. The Butcher’s Daughter redefines plant-based dining with its bold, innovative approach. Lemon-lavender waffles and coconut yogurt with butterfly pea flowers and seasonal fruits are standouts on the all-day breakfast menu, and most items can be made vegan by substituting dairy-free cheese or tofu scramble. The lunch and dinner menus feature dishes like Mushroom Calamari, a burger with a beet and akua kelp patty, and stone-oven pizzas topped with sweet-potato béchamel, rice paper bacon, garlic confit and other intriguing toppings.

Pura Vita

A great place for both gluten-free pastas and vegan options, Pura Vita combines creative culinary replacements for meat and wheat with an atmosphere reminiscent of a Manhattan wine bar. It was the very first 100% plant-based Italian restaurant in the country, and today, chef/owner Tara Punzone (a vegan herself) plates up traditional Italian favorites, like a fantastic carbonara. It’s a spaghetti noodle with macadamia nut romano cream, shiitake bacon and an “avocado egg” to keep that same delicious, gooey texture.

Olivetta

Olivetta is perfect for a mixed group of meat-eaters and vegans, particularly if your group is celebrating or looking for fine dining. Old-world ingredients meet a Mediterranean design, and the wine list is a standout in the neighborhood. Their menu has plenty of vegetarian options, as well as clearly listed vegan choices. Check out the roasted oyster mushrooms over creamy polenta (vegan) or the burrata with pears and aged balsamic caviar (vegetarian).

Gracias Madre

Whitewashed walls, rustic iron and wood furnishings and dangling chandeliers give Gracias Madre a blend of old Mexico and new California chic — and the vegan Mexican cuisine is consistently lauded by critics, with good reason. Dishes like jackfruit “carnitas” tacos and gorditas with mushroom chicharrón use organic, plant-based and locally sourced ingredients for a meal that’s as good for the planet as it is for you. Their famed margaritas are cruelty-free, too.

Juniper

The foliage-filled courtyard of Juniper Garden & Lounge at the 1 Hotel West Hollywood is lit with string lights at dusk.

Tucked into the secret-garden-like courtyard of 1 Hotel West Hollywood, Juniper is a perfect place to grab drinks and small plates before a night out on the Sunset Strip. Chef Ginger Pierce pulls ingredients from the hotel’s organic garden to craft a menu that lets vegetables shine in dishes like Crunchy Kimchi Salad, Miso Baba Ghanouj and Roasted Heirloom Carrots. The sustainable ethos continues on the bar menu with biodynamic wines, local craft beers and botanical-based cocktails.
